Kingates Equestrian was bought in 2005 as 28 acres of open farmland that had been used for grazing livestock. Planning permission was sought for a storage barn by Dawn's father (John) for his Market Gardening business. Later on Planning permission was obtained for stables and a sand school for Dawn & her family's own horses and personal use. Over the years Dawn's freelance business had gone from strength to strength & so the next goal was to obtain Planning Permission for Kingates Equestrian to have commercial use. Planning permission was granted which meant Dawn could expand her services from freelancing to now also having a base in which to coach riders on their own horses, school other client's horse with the use of the great facilities as well as offering stables to Full livery clients and horses for backing, schooling etc.
The business has proved to be very successful and has built an excellent reputation that stretches well beyond the shores of the Island, the hard work of Dawn, her family and her team has been the key to this success. The livery yard has remained full and generally has a waiting list, we are currently working on plans to expand the stabling to accommodate the growth that the business is experiencing.
In 2015 Kingates Equestrian held it's first season of shows which were very successful. These covered all disciplines including unaffiliated Dressage, Showjumping, Showing and Arena Cross Country/Working Hunter. This seasons events can be found on our Events Page.
Dawn aims to ensure as the business is growing that the yard still remains a very personal and friendly place to be for clients and visitors and the facilities provided are 1st class and most importantly to us is the happiness of the horses and their owners.
