Dawns Horses

Hotmale (aka Hugo).... My super horse :-)

Born: 2007

Breed: Hanoverian

Sire: Hotline

Dam: St Pr Sinfoni

Hugo was bought as a yearling from Isle of Wight Breeder Kathy Hocknull from Dodnor stud. Dawn backed & prepared him to take part in British Dressage young horse classes. Unfortunately in 2011 Hugo suffered from a rare colic episode which resulted in him having life saving surgery at the Liphook Equine Hospital where they removed nearly all of his small intestine, he now only has the minimal amount that a horse can function on. Leading on from that Hugo was left with a large Hernia as the wound hadn't healed as well as hoped, this was due to the infection that had occurred during his colic episode when his small intestine was dying off and releasing toxins that were poisoning him. He went on to have corrective surgery where he had a mesh grill fitted to correct the Hernia. Hugo made a fantastic recovery but again unfortunately went on to have a year of difficult health due to the development of Diastemata (abnormal space between the teeth that result in major oral discomfort, quidding & weight loss). Over a year He received extensive remedial dentistry from Kate Vincett (Vectis Equine Vets) which finally put him back on track.

As we finish the summer of 2015 Hugo has gone from strength to strength achieving fantastic results at British Dressage Novice level, has just qualified for Winter Regional's & is now about to step up to Elementary. We are both now extremely lucky to have support from Nikki Collinson, Human & Animal Chiropractor as we both need keeping in the correct shape!  Fingers crossed this horse now has the luck he deserves....watch out for updates on his progress!

Forever Van De Pluimert (aka Inception)

Born: 2005

Breed: Belgian Warmblood

Sire: Action Breaker

Dam: Ulke

Inception was purchased from Ireland in 2012 where his history was/is totally unknown. His schooling was non existent but he is a sensible horse with a lovely character. He is a saint to hack so he has the job of escorting all the youngsters out on hacks, which is a very important role with today's hectic roads. I have competed him in Unaffiliated dressage, O.D.E's & British Showjumping. Inception was doing very well in British Novice & Discovery. In September 2013 we competed in the Uk Showjumping Championships at Arena UK.. Inception's first major show & he really stepped up to the mark being placed in nearly every class with over 100 competitors. We have since had to have some down time from Showjumping whilst working on the business but we are raring to go so hopefully you will see us out competing again soon.

De Jure (aka Brunswick)

Born: 2010

Breed: Warmblood

Sire: De Ville

Dam: Lucky Lady

Brunswick was purchased this summer (2015) from his Breeder Julie Peters. He is currently un-backed but will be starting his ridden career very shortly. Watch this space.

Ricardos Luckyboy (aka Riley)

Born: 2005

Breed: Irish Sports Horse

Sire: Ricardo Z

Dam: Parennial Jade

Riley was purchased as an un-backed 3 year old from Goresbridge Horse Sale in Ireland in 2008. The intention was to back & produce him for showjumping. Riley was standing at 17hh as a 3 year old so we produced him slowly to allow him time to grow into his enormous body, he proved to be rather tricky to back but we got there in the end. We competed in unaffiliated dressage & worked slowly on his showjumping at home, he had huge amounts of scope but lacked a lot of confidence.  Unfortunately he sustained a tendon injury to a hind leg which left him needing a year off of work, upon returning to work Riley went lame on a front leg & the diagnosis was that he now had arthritis in his Coffin joint. It took lots of time & management for Riley to become sound. He has been doing great & has returned to full fitness over the last 2 years so he's enjoying life again.
